Books & Baked Goods

Read any good books lately?

Come to “Books and Baked Goods” on Monday, November 20th at 7pm in Voorhies 126 and share the wealth! Bring a book recommendation of your own, baked goods if you can (we’ll love you forever), and come hang out with other book-lovers. Who knows, you may end up finding that perfect book for the upcoming long weekend or winter break!

Also, sign-ups for Story Time at local elementary schools will be held during this event. Just bring your schedule and sign up with Tamaray Starling.

It’s Story Time!

Student volunteers from The English Club at UC Davis want to come and read at your school!

We are happy to announce the beginning of a brand new program to encourage reading in the youth community of Davis. In doing so, we offer the opportunity to have volunteer undergraduate students who are passionate about literature come into the classroom and make reading fun for kids!

Themes for Story Time:

International Fairytales
Fairytale Canon (Aesop’s, Grimm’s, etc.)
Poetry
Holiday
Superheroes
Animals
Foods
Author Emphasis
Historical Fiction
Sci-Fi

When setting up Story Time for your class, please keep the following information in mind:

• The number students in your class.

• The number of English Club members needed (2 members are a minimum for large group readings, more will attend if you wish to split the class into smaller groups).

• The time of the reading (25-50 minutes).

• The type of reading: Would you like just a reading or a reading with follow-up activities?

• The books you would like read. Please look through our Themes for Story Time to see what we offer. You may, of course, request we read books of your choosing instead.
